Short Film: Lost in a Daydream

What inspired me to do Lost in a Daydream is that I’ve never been lucky with love, especially when it comes to a best friend. It’s that inside feeling where you picture them to share the same feelings, but it never really happens. I wanted the situation for Eva to have raised stakes that she’s coming out to her friend and doesn’t read the relationship the same as Amber does.

I’ve really always stuck to one type of writing when it comes to a relationship. With this film, I wanted to break what I was used to and try to get inside Eva’s mind and write her character. I wanted her to be relatable to everybody. Colors was something I strived to vividly use more of with this and that it being a daydream it should be very colorful. Finally, this film is an ode to David Lynch and his bizarre films like Mulholland Drive, something that inspired me to make this film. It just so happens his picture is there in the first scene at the bar. I hope that with this film I was able to show a bit of Lynch while also showing my strengths and uniqueness.
